Journal 52 Week 7

When I grow up:
It took me a while to try to remember the first time I knew what profession I desired.  I even called my sister and finally it came to me.  A brain surgeon!  Well it didn't happen but it's all right with me. I love what I do!

Journal 52 Week 6

The lost art of love letters:
I immediately knew what I would use for week6...my sweet loving husband wrote me many letters during the first two years of our marriage.  So I scanned them while they were spread out.  However,  I will be honest and say that I was only able to use a few of them.   He used to write me ALOT! I am so grateful for this prompt...it gave me an opportunity to relive those letters.

Journal 52 - Building Character

Week 4- prompt is Building Character. ..the first thing that came to mind was this picture I took recently. I felt the picture captured everything about my character. Its been a long time since I've drawn a sketch of anyone so I was nervous about sketching myself. But here's my sketch of me and a list of different characteristics that I feel I have built within me based on the many experiences and the different people I have encountered. I decided to include not only the sketch but the photo itself just in case you didn't capture my characteristics from my sketch.

Journal 52 - week 3

Prompt: You Always Make Me Smile. ..
Although it took me all week to get this one done it wasn't because I wasn't sure what to do.  I knew instantly that it would evolve around texts from my hubby.  His texts always make my day! I didnt know how to incorporate a text and then BAM it hit me....print it out!! I loved working in my art journal this week!!

Journal 52 - Week 2: Somewhere a simple place

This week the prompt is Somewhere a simple place...and the first thing that popped into my mind is me sitting on a wooden bench just being me and recalling living a simpler life out in the country.  My life now is busy and a lil more fast paced than when I was growing up but I remember those days.  The days of farm animals in our back yard, vegetable gardens, warm sunny days and the smell of rain hitting the dirt.  I long for those days....where life was simple.

Journal 52 - 1st week

The first prompt is UP UP AND AWAY...so this is my take on it.  This New Years Day was the anniversary of my Wellita not being with us....it is finally gettjng easier for me to celebrate the new year. I have only started in the last few years and she left this world over 10 years ago. I know she is always watching over our family and is our angel. She taught me that you dont need belongings or lots of money to be a good mother...it's all about love and how you care for your family. She was the strongest,  sweetest, most giving woman I have ever known....I could only hope to be half the woman she was. Thank you Wellita for being my angel.

Journal 52 - Creating My First Art Journal

http://journal52.com/your-journal/
I have decided to try an Art Journal!  Thank you Chelle for this free Art Journal class. I am so excited and thankful to my creative friend Shaunery Wharton http://shaunerysblog.blogspot.com/ for posting this on her Facebook.  I hope to be able to keep up with it and that it inspires others to try it.  Here is my cover so far....I am sure I will make some changes to it as my journal progresses. In fact, I have left the bottom right corner free for later.

Christmas door decor

I saw this idea on Pinterest and decided to make my own for my door this year. I love it and the way it looks on my white door.  Tomorrow I am going to cut out "Merry Christmas" from red vinyl and I can't wait to see how it all comes together.

A couple of productive days.....but stir crazy.

I have been home from work due to the weather since Thursday nite.  The good thing is that I have been able to get some projects done.  I finally finished my bulletin board for work.  I bought this plain board at a local thrift shop and my dear husband spray painted it for me.  I then bought some wood letters, painted them and glued them on.  I really wanted to add cool and personal tacks.  So I cut off the tops to some push pins and added my own buttons.  I LOVE buttons!!!  Here is my finished product.

Chalkboard Christmas Gift tags / Ornaments

Sorry for so many posts at one time….but I am finally catching up on posting some of the projects I completed in December.  I made these lil chalkboard tags or you can even use them as ornaments for my co-workers this year.  I found my inspiration on Pinterest and they were super easy.  I bought some wood pieces and the spray chalk paint at Michaels.  I do recommend you looking for pieces that either don’t have a tag stuck on the back, it was very difficult to remove that tag.  I spray painted both sides.  Then I used a white paint marker to decorate the tag and put a personal msg on the back.  Once all that was dry I added some red ribbon I already had along with some snowflake stickers and bling.  Love them!!!

Bottle Cap Necklaces

I finally made these!!! I have been wanting to try to make these and I thought it was going to be so difficult but it really wasn’t.  I used already painted black bottle caps from Hobby Lobby, Tim Holtz jump rings, Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, Martha Stewart circle punch and my own clipart.  After the Dimensional Magic dried I punched a hole with my Crop a Dile and added the jump ring along with a chain I also bought at Hobby Lobby.  I really liked the finished product.

Christmas Ornament Frame

This is the gift I made for our Stampin Up Christmas gift exchange.  I used the ornament punch, the current Christmas paper pack from SU and several holiday greeting stamps from SU, gumball green paper SU, gold embossing powder SU and gumball green ribbon satin stitched SU.  This was pretty simple to do…I took a plain canvas painted it with a light solid color, punched out ornaments from a gold paper, punched out ornaments from the SU paper pack then I put it all together.  I have a separate piece of paper for the bottom part which I embossed before adhering it to the canvas.  I then added ribbon and the bow.  Thanks for stopping by.

Office Wall Art

I took an old cheap canvas that had a painting on it that I really didn’t care for and turned it into my own wall art.  I have a large empty wall space in my office and decided to deco some paper and add a key cut out of vinyl.  I really like it!  It was a real inexpensive way to decorate.  I added a few elements that I truly love in life, like the bird, hearts, yellow roses, being a Texan, Hope, balloons, and the key.  I can’t wait to hang it up on Monday!
