For ever and ever... A cover for our anniversary cards

I am in love!!! With mixed media!!! I didn't realize how much fun and rewarding this would feel. I decided to take a break from my art journal to create some pieces of mixed media. I created an art canvas but can't post it yet. I would like to send it to the person I am gifting it to first. So I got brave and made a cover for our anniversary cards. Believe it or not but I used an empty microwaveable popcorn box for the front and back cover. I am no where near being done but I am soooo excited about the front cover that I just had to post. I used white flowers that inked to color coordinate,  acrylic paints,  rub ons, lave, bling, and even some leftover rhinestones we used on the tables and a copy of the cd cover I made for the cds of our favorite 25 love songs.  Yes, it was our 25th anniversary last year and I just can't bare to put the cards away in a box. I think this will be a great way to always cherish the memory of our celebration with our friends and loved ones. Thanks for stopping by.

My Art Journal - Mi Pajarito

Mi pajarito - means my lil bird. That's what my Wellita (grandma) Luz used to call me.  She said it was because I ate like a bird.  I was a lil thing back then. I guess that's why I love birds. My grandma was a very resourceful lady. She loved gardening, cooking, sewing and was very creative. I believe that's where my creative bone comes from. She was a very strong woman with the most beautiful long hair. I miss you Lita Luz πŸ’š. Much love and respect

My Art Journal

I love the different techniques that I have learned in art journaling and all the ideas from the free Journal 52 prompts.  But I think I am ready to create my own pages and style.  After lots of research and You tube videos I have come to the conclusion that art journaling is a creative expression of my thoughts, feelings, moods, inspiration and artistic journey of my past, present and future.

So my first solo flight into this journey is about beauty. Not the outer shell of our body but the inner being. I truly believe that it's your inner core that makes a person BEAUTIFUL. So dare to be Be YOU tiful.  Much love and respect. ...

Journal 52 week 14

Rain or Shine - creating is always on my mind.  For this prompt I went really simple. I squirted paint with water I use molding paste and paint send I used my stencils with the morning paint and I used my Faber Castell pitt artist big brush pen. I wasn't sure what to use as my quote and then it hit me....no matter what day is it or what kind of weather or where I'm at I'm always thinking about creating. Thanks for stopping by.

Journal 52 week 12

A day in the life of me: this one was a lil difficult to create. But I decided to just go with it and pull out some pieces of paper that I loved and scribble most of the things I do or think about during my day.

Journal 52 week 11

Week 11 Stars: When I look at these stars. ..they mean more to me. More because of the ones that never came home. More because of the ones that made it home but are scarred for life. More because of our service to God, Country and our Corps. Semper Fi,  Lcpl Johnson & Cpl Johnson USMC. This prompt truly inspired me to remember our fellow service men and women, as well as, the brotherhood that lives within us forever. Dedicated to my husband, My Marine!

art journal 52 week 8

Week 8: Found poetry...still catching up.  But this really isnt found poetry. It was texted to me from my sister.  We haven't always been the best of friends, yet I have always told her that no matter what we need to be there for each other.  So without going into too much detail life hasn't been good for her lately. She's just a year younger than me and I called her to remind her. ..no matter what I will always be here for her and I love her.  This poem is how she validated it...she's a very talented writer.

Journal 52 Week 7

When I grow up:
It took me a while to try to remember the first time I knew what profession I desired.  I even called my sister and finally it came to me.  A brain surgeon!  Well it didn't happen but it's all right with me. I love what I do!

Journal 52 Week 6

The lost art of love letters:
I immediately knew what I would use for week6...my sweet loving husband wrote me many letters during the first two years of our marriage.  So I scanned them while they were spread out.  However,  I will be honest and say that I was only able to use a few of them.   He used to write me ALOT! I am so grateful for this prompt...it gave me an opportunity to relive those letters.

Journal 52 - Building Character

Week 4- prompt is Building Character. ..the first thing that came to mind was this picture I took recently. I felt the picture captured everything about my character. Its been a long time since I've drawn a sketch of anyone so I was nervous about sketching myself. But here's my sketch of me and a list of different characteristics that I feel I have built within me based on the many experiences and the different people I have encountered. I decided to include not only the sketch but the photo itself just in case you didn't capture my characteristics from my sketch.

I didnt know how to incorporate a text and then BAM it hit me....print it out!! I loved working in my art journal this week!!

Journal 52 - Week 2: Somewhere a simple place

This week the prompt is Somewhere a simple place...and the first thing that popped into my mind is me sitting on a wooden bench just being me and recalling living a simpler life out in the country.  My life now is busy and a lil more fast paced than when I was growing up but I remember those days.  The days of farm animals in our back yard, vegetable gardens, warm sunny days and the smell of rain hitting the dirt.  I long for those days....where life was simple.

Journal 52 - 1st week

The first prompt is UP UP AND AWAY...so this is my take on it.  This New Years Day was the anniversary of my Wellita not being with us....it is finally gettjng easier for me to celebrate the new year. I have only started in the last few years and she left this world over 10 years ago. I know she is always watching over our family and is our angel. She taught me that you dont need belongings or lots of money to be a good mother...it's all about love and how you care for your family. She was the strongest,  sweetest, most giving woman I have ever known....I could only hope to be half the woman she was. Thank you Wellita for being my angel.

Journal 52 - Creating My First Art Journal

http://journal52.com/your-journal/
I have decided to try an Art Journal!  Thank you Chelle for this free Art Journal class. I am so excited and thankful to my creative friend Shaunery Wharton http://shaunerysblog.blogspot.com/ for posting this on her Facebook.  I hope to be able to keep up with it and that it inspires others to try it.  Here is my cover so far....I am sure I will make some changes to it as my journal progresses. In fact, I have left the bottom right corner free for later.
